Chobe River, Botswana

     The chobe river is one of the most beautiful in the world. It begins as a small mountain spring in Angola. From there, it travels great distances through the Kalahari sands before reaching Botswana and becoming the Linyanti.

It finally becomes the Chobea at the border post of Ngoma, where it continues to run along Botswana's northern border before meeting the mighty Zambezi and thumbing over the precipice at Victoria falls.

The Chobe course, like the Okavango and the Zambezi river is affected fault lines which are extensions of the Great Rift Valley. By the time it reaches the northern border in Chobe national park, it has become broad, twisting mass of water that makes it's way through swampland and is intercepted by a number of lush green islands.

The broad section of the river attracts an almost unbelievable destiny of games, including huge herds of elephants, buffalos,as well as countless hippopotamuses and crocodiles. The bird life is one of a kind as in regards to the wetter summer months. The wide banks and lush greenery attract rare antelopes such as red lechwe. The river is also home to over 90 species of fish.

But even without all the wild animals and bird life this place is undoubtedly a remarkable  picturesque and tranquil places in Africa in it's own.
